On Screen Learning didn’t start life in a slick, glass-walled office with beanbags, motivational posters, and the faint smell of artisan coffee in the air. We started where most trainers live — knee-deep in paperwork, juggling endless admin, and battling to keep quality consistent while secretly wishing we could spend more time actually training people.
The breaking point came one Thursday at 5pm. Thirty students, each clutching a coursework book with 300 questions, all handed them in at once… and wanted results by Friday afternoon. In that moment, we realised that unless we automated this, we’d either lose our sanity or develop an impressive but unhelpful ability to howl at the moon.
We knew the pain: the late-night marking marathons, the never-ending forms, and the joy of systems that looked like they hadn’t been updated since 2015. One awarding organisation called a Learner Registration Form an “L2,” another called it a “V8.” The Learner Tracker had to be updated by hand. The Sampling Plan. The RQ1 here, the V2 there — honestly, if someone had called them R2D2 or C3PO, we’d have nodded in agreement. Training had started to feel like a side project, buried under an avalanche of admin.
So, we built our own platform. Suddenly, we could work with awarding organisations that had joined the 21st century, ditching typewriters for laptops. We had the freedom to choose who we worked with, and as the admin burden shrank, we began introducing new courses — fully digital, streamlined, and designed to run without drama.
And then there were the feedback forms. Some wanted them after every unit, others after every single question. A few only accepted PDFs. Meanwhile, most of our clients couldn’t tell the difference between an LMS and a left-handed screwdriver.
That’s when OSL became more than an idea — it became our fix. We designed it to strip the stress from course delivery, automate assessments, and weave quality assurance into every step. We work across platforms, build interactive content, and remove the guesswork so trainers can get back to doing what they love.
Today, we work with some of the UK and Ireland’s biggest names in business, sport, and regulation. But at heart, we’re still the same caffeine-fuelled geeks, obsessed with the details and genuinely excited about making training not just easier and sharper… but actually enjoyable.
On Screen Learning builds and delivers ready-to-use, high-quality course content so you don’t have to.
