Biological Foundations

Structure and function of the circulatory, respiratory, and nervous systems. Detailed study of skeletal classifications, synovial joint actions, and muscular tissue characteristics. Understanding energy systems (ATP-PC, Glycolytic, Aerobic) and the long-term musculoskeletal life course from adolescence to 50+.

Professionalism & Service

Maximising the customer journey and membership retention through rapport building and social support. Portraying a professional image, managing workplace conflicts, and identifying demographics to tailor organisational offerings.

Health, Safety & Compliance

Mastery of UK legislation including COSHH, GDPR, and RIDDOR. Understanding safeguarding requirements (AccessNI/DBS), risk assessment protocols, emergency action planning, and routine facility maintenance standards.

Client Architecture

The consultation process, risk stratification (ACSM/Morgan-Irwin models), and informed consent. Using lifestyle questionnaires to assess readiness to change and managing common health conditions like CHD, Obesity, and Type 2 Diabetes.

Programme Design & FITT

Application of the FITT principles (Frequency, Intensity, Time, Type). Designing safe and effective programmes that incorporate progressive overload, specificity, and reversibility across cardiovascular, resistance, and flexibility components.
